DIY Christmas Advent Wreath

DIY christmas advent wreath

This year, I teamed up with Westwing  to present you a Christmas DIY to brighten up your home!
This is actually one of the biggest family traditions, along with baking Christmas cakes, "Bredalas", and decorating the tree: Making Christmas Advent wreathes with my Mum! This tradition is quite huge here in Alsace, probably because of our closeness with German culture that is the origin of it.
On a chilly afternoon, we would sit on the carpet with our branches, put on some music or a good film on, and make several of these for all the family! So keep scrolling to discover the super easy steps to make your own at home!

You will need:

A straw or polystyrene loop
Pine branches (cut in 15 - 20cm length)
Wire
Glue gun
4 candles
Ribbon
Beads
Cinnamon
Star Anise
Small decoration of your choice

Matériel:

Un anneau en paille ou en polystyrène
Branches de sapin (coupées en morceaux de 15-20cm)
Fil de fer
Pistolet à colle
4 bougies épaisses
Ruban
Perles
Cannelle
Anis étoilé
Petites décorations de votre choix

STEP 1

Tie the wire around the loop.

STEP 2

Take a bunch of pine branches , place it on the loop and wind the wire around.

STEP 3

Take another bunch of branches and place it over the first row, a few cm shifted.
Wind the wire around and repeat the process until you've covered the whole loop!

STEP 4

With the glue gun, glue all the elements on the wreath. Tie knots with the ribbon around the candles.

STEP 5

Traditionally, we light one candle at a time, every Sunday before Christmas,
but you could just light it whenever you like! It makes a nice centerpiece ^^
